    Cottage Hospital is seeking an experienced, compassionate Primary Care Physician (MD or DO) to provide patient care and serve as Medical Director for our Rowe Health Center Rural Health Clinic in Woodsville, New Hampshire.

    This role combines direct primary care with clinical leadership, giving you the opportunity to build meaningful, long-term relationships with patients while helping guide the quality and delivery of care across our Rural Health Clinic.

    Job Summary

    The Physician & Medical Director provides high-quality primary care while overseeing the day-to-day clinical operations of the medical provider team at Rowe Health Center.

    Working in partnership with the Rural Health Clinic Director, the Medical Director helps plan, implement, and evaluate medical policies, programs, clinical procedures, and quality standards to ensure consistent, high-quality care across the practice.

    As a practicing Clinic Physician, you will provide comprehensive primary care by evaluating and diagnosing patient conditions, reviewing medical histories and diagnostic results, developing individualized treatment plans, and supporting patients with both acute and chronic healthcare needs.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide comprehensive, high-quality primary care to patients, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, preventive care, and ongoing management of acute and chronic conditions.
    • Provide clinical leadership and supervision to Rural Health Clinic medical providers.
    • Partner with the RHC Director to design, implement, and evaluate standards for patient care, clinical procedures, protocols, and medical programs.
    • Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities, including clinical audits, peer reviews, and regularly scheduled quality meetings.
    • Help ensure an effective system is maintained for consistent clinical quality and patient safety across all providers.
    • Provide leadership, guidance, advice, and recommendations to the RHC Director and medical provider team.
    • Assist with continuing education, on-the-job training, and orientation of medical staff as requested.
    • Support the engagement and retention of medical provider staff.
    • Advise, counsel, and, when necessary, participate in disciplinary matters involving medical providers in conjunction with the RHC Director.
    • Participate with the RHC Director in planning medical operations and promoting the efficient use of clinical personnel.
    • Participate in, review, and approve the Rural Health Clinic's annual program evaluation with the RHC Director.
    • Attend staff meetings and participate in Medical Staff Committees as scheduled.
    • Participate in the development and review of medical department policies and procedures in accordance with accreditation requirements and professional standards.
    • Maintain knowledge of the principles and practices of medicine and Rural Health Clinic requirements, or demonstrate a willingness to learn applicable RHC rules, regulations, and procedures.
    • Maintain effective working relationships with clinical providers, administrative staff, hospital departments, patients, families, provider offices, and outside agencies.
    • Ensure clinical responsibilities and operations are performed in accordance with applicable Federal, State, Rural Health Clinic, patient safety, and organizational policies and guidelines.
    • Demonstrate the highest standards of medical ethics, professionalism, communication, and patient-centered care.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
    • Valid New Hampshire Physician License.
    • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or another full-scope Primary Care specialty.
    • Current DEA license.
    • Current CPR certification.
    • Demonstrated experience providing primary care.
    • Ten (10) years of experience working within a community clinic preferred.
    • At least five (5) years of leadership and/or executive experience.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
    • Ability to evaluate patient and organizational needs, reach sound conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations.
