Opportunity Details

  • Position Type:Full-Time or Part-Time (prorated on call)
  • Primary Role: Personally performed cardiac anesthesia (no medical direction model); non-cardiac weeks: Practice general anesthesia within the same hospital
  • Schedule:Combination of in-house clinical work + home cardiac call; Flexible full-time and part-time schedules available with a work-life balance focused team. Call and holidays are shared among the group in a manner that creates individual hourly and compensation flexibility.

  • Team Info:
    • Practice in a care team model, providing medical direction over CRNAs with the opportunity to personally perform cases.
    • Diverse general and complex case mix, including orthopedic (elective + trauma), gynecology, ENT, complex vascular, neurosurgery, interventional cardiology including EP and structural heat, OB, and full scope cardiothoracic cases.
    • Utilization of peripheral nerve blocks and advanced regional techniques to reach enhanced recovery goals with our surgical colleagues.
    • Opportunity to teach residents and students.

  • Competitive Compensation & Benefits You May Be Eligible For:
    • $325/hour for in-house clinical shifts; 1.0 FTE = 2,000 hours annually; Competitive shift-based in-house compensation model; balanced structure supporting both cardiac and general anesthesia practice
    • Weekday call: $70/hour; Friday night call: $80/hour; Weekend/holiday call: $80/hour; Call-back / additional time: $650 per 2-hour increment
    • Up to $75,000 annually in value-based incentives (based on quality, outcomes, and system performance)
    • High earning potential: Additional shifts: $365/hour - opportunities to increase earnings through additional coverage
    • Starting bonus up to $25,000

Requirements

  • Physicians: Shall be board certified in an appropriate area of clinical practice or is board eligible and will become board certified within five years following the Start Date (unless sooner required by the applicable medical staff bylaws)
  • Active Michigan medical license (or ability to obtain)
  • DEA license
  • ACLS/BLS certification (must be maintained)

Duties & Responsibilities

A typical day may include:

  • Providing direct patient care
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
  • Participating in teaching and mentoring
  • Documenting in Epic EMR
  • Engaging in quality improvement initiatives
  • Supporting community health efforts
