    About the Role:

    The Physician Assistant (PA) plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive healthcare services within the ophthalmology and broader medical fields. This position involves diagnosing and managing a wide range of eye conditions, performing ophthalmic diagnostic procedures, and providing urgent and emergency care when necessary. The PA collaborates closely with ophthalmologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement effective treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs. Additionally, the role includes educating patients and their families about eye health, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to ensure optimal outcomes. Ultimately, the PA contributes to enhancing patient quality of life through expert clinical care, timely interventions, and compassionate support across diverse medical settings.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
    • Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant license to practice in New York State.
    • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
    • Demonstrated clinical experience in ophthalmology, emergency medicine, or urgent care settings.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Familiarity with critical care protocols and management.
    • Advanced certification or coursework in ophthalmology or surgical assistance.
    • Strong background in patient education and counseling.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct comprehensive ophthalmic examinations and diagnostic testing to assess patient eye health and identify conditions.
    • Provide urgent and emergency medical care for patients presenting with acute ophthalmologic and general medical issues.
    • Manage preoperative and postoperative patient care in collaboration with surgeons.
    • Perform minor ophthalmic procedures and treatments.
    • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with chronic and acute eye conditions.
    • Educate patients and caregivers on disease prevention, treatment options, medication management, and follow-up care.
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and effective patient care across various clinical settings.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
