Location: Torrance, CA (4101 Torrance Boulevard)
Start Date: 09/10/2026
Duration: Ongoing gap coverage through 2027, with additional dates in 2026
Shift: 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM, including inpatient rounds, with on-call duties (evenings and 24-hour weekend calls)
Hours/Week: Approximately 40 hours, with guaranteed 8 hours/day and overtime as applicable
Employment Type: Locum/Temporary
License/Certifications: Active CA license, DEA, BC in specialty
Experience Needed: At least 1 year in cardiovascular/cardiothoracic surgery, proficiency with endoscopic procedures, EKG interpretation, and advanced support tools (IABP, ECMO, Impella)
Licensure, certification, travel, and other reimbursements when applicable

What You’ll Do:
Provide inpatient care including rounding on post-op patients and performing first assist in surgery
Manage pre- and post-operative patient care in a busy cardiovascular unit
Respond to on-call beeper notifications for night and weekend coverage
Interpret diagnostic tests such as EKGs, X-rays, labs, and support ECMO/IABP/Impella procedures
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Support ongoing holiday and coverage shifts as scheduled
What You Need:
Valid California medical license and DEA registration
Board Certification in Cardiovascular or Cardiothoracic Surgery (BC)
Minimum 1+ years of relevant clinical experience in a surgical setting
Skills in endoscopic procedures, vascular harvesting, and critical diagnostic interpretation
Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
About the Assignment: This role involves providing critical inpatient cardiovascular surgery coverage at a leading healthcare facility in Torrance, CA. The provider will be involved in inpatient rounding, surgical assistance, and managing complex patient cases, including intraoperative support and diagnostic evaluation. The schedule includes day shifts, call duties (night and weekend), and holiday coverage as needed, with an emphasis on quality patient care and teamwork.
