POSITION SUMMARY

Wound Kinetics is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (APP) — either a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) — to join our dedicated wound care team. The APP will provide comprehensive, evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with acute and chronic wounds across a variety of clinical and long-term care settings. This role is central to our mission of delivering exceptional, patient-centered wound care through innovation, clinical excellence, and collaborative practice.

ABOUT WOUND KINETICS

Wound Kinetics is a specialized wound care provider committed to advancing the standard of care for patients with complex wounds. Our interdisciplinary team works across inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing, and home-based settings to deliver personalized, outcomes-driven wound management. We combine the latest evidence-based protocols with cutting-edge technologies to promote healing, prevent complications, and improve quality of life.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Mobile/Travel Clinical Care & Wound Management

• Conduct comprehensive wound assessments including wound type, etiology, size, tissue quality, exudate, periwound condition, and signs of infection

• Diagnose and manage acute, chronic, and complex wounds including but not limited to: diabetic foot ulcers, venous/arterial leg ulcers, pressure injuries, surgical wounds, and traumatic wounds

• Develop, implement, and modify individualized wound care treatment plans based on evidence-based guidelines

• Perform wound debridement (sharp, mechanical, enzymatic, and/or autolytic) within scope of practice

• Select, apply, and manage advanced wound care dressings, biologics, skin substitutes, negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), and other specialized modalities

• Order and interpret diagnostic studies including labs, imaging, vascular studies, and wound cultures as clinically indicated

• Prescribe pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies including antibiotics, offloading devices, compression therapy, and nutritional support

• Recognize and manage wound-related complications including osteomyelitis, critical limb ischemia, cellulitis, and sepsis — initiating appropriate referrals or escalation

Patient & Family Education

• Provide thorough education to patients, families, and caregivers regarding wound etiology, prevention, self-care, and expected outcomes

• Counsel patients on risk factor modification including diabetes management, nutrition optimization, smoking cessation, and pressure relief strategies

• Set realistic goals and expectations while promoting patient empowerment and engagement in the healing process

Collaboration & Care Coordination

• Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, podiatrists, vascular specialists, physical/occupational therapists, dietitians, and nursing staff to ensure holistic, coordinated care

• Communicate effectively with referring providers, care teams, and payers regarding wound status, treatment plans, and progress

• Participate in interdisciplinary wound care conferences and case reviews

• Coordinate transitions of care including hospital discharge planning, home health referrals, and skilled nursing facility wound management

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) consistent with regulatory, payer, and organizational requirements

• Ensure documentation supports appropriate wound care coding, billing, and reimbursement (ICD-10, CPT)

• Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including CMS guidelines for wound care

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, outcome tracking, and performance metrics related to wound healing rates, recurrence, amputation prevention, and patient satisfaction

Practice Development

• Remain current with advances in wound care science, products, and technology through ongoing continuing education and professional development

• Contribute to the development and refinement of clinical protocols, care pathways, and best practice guidelines

• Participate in staff education, mentorship, and training as applicable

• Support marketing and outreach efforts by serving as a clinical resource and liaison to referral sources

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensure

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program

• Current, unrestricted PA or NP licensure in the applicable state(s) of practice

• Current DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain)

• BLS/ACLS certification required; ACLS preferred

• Eligible for or currently holds prescriptive authority

Experience

• Minimum 1–2 years of clinical APP experience; wound care experience strongly preferred

• Experience with wound debridement, NPWT, compression therapy, and advanced dressing selection

• Familiarity with wound care in multiple settings (outpatient clinic, SNF, home health, hospital) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical knowledge of wound etiology, pathophysiology, and healing principles

• Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR); experience with wound care-specific EMR systems a plus

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment

• Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Wound care certification: CWS (Certified Wound Specialist), WCC (Wound Care Certified), CWOCN, or CWSP

• Experience with hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) and/or lymphedema management

• Familiarity with CMS Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs) for wound care products and services
