We are a busy Oncology-Hematology practice in the mid-Wilshire district. You will be able to practice at the leading edge of cancer treatment as you make the most of your skills, knowledge, and compassion. We are looking for an enthusiastic, willing to learn and hard-working Physician Assistant to add to our practice. We have a full-service laboratory and several infusion rooms with all chairs full throughout the day. The Physician Assistant will evaluate and treat patients with acute and chronic complaints mostly related to oncology and hematological issues and document in detail within the electronic medical record. The Physician Assistant will perform complete physical exams with assessment of normal and abnormal findings on new patients according to protocols, obtain interval histories and perform pertinent examinations on return patients. Evaluate and order diagnostic studies, assess, and order medications, and order laboratory tests as indicated by evaluation of the patient according to protocols. Perform designated procedures and oversee infusion therapy and chemotherapy protocols. In addition, the Physician Assistant may assist with research protocols and all paperwork requirements. Physician Assistant may occasionally be needed to assist nursing staff in chemotherapy if short-handed and/or a difficult issue arises. Responsibilities
Examine each patient, take a detailed medical history, and chart everything medically important in their records
Read test results, interpret data appropriately, and make diagnostic suggestions based on those results
Explain to the patient, test results, and expected health outcomes
Prescribe medication or therapy with a physician overseeing as part of a larger treatment plan
Work closely with provider to formulate a full, comprehensive treatment plan
Qualifications
Valid state licensing required
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Experience with medical terminology, charting, and diagnostic tests
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Eagerness to learn & interest in Oncology-Hematology a must
Must be detail oriented, have excellent interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, and a team player.
Ability to type quickly minimum wpm 60
EMR-eClinicalWorks (desired)
Must have current DEA certificate, will assist if hired
Must have NPI number or have applied, will assist if hired
