Position Summary/ Department Summary:
Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner, Orthopedics (40 hours)
Key Responsibilities:- Comprehensive care of subspecialty team patients on the physical medicine and rehabilitation/Physiatry team
- Treating new and established patients, interpreting diagnostic imaging, managing pre-op and post-op appointments
- Coordinating patient care both internal and external to BCH as a core responsibility
- Role is primarily non-procedural
- Managing acute and chronic orthopedic conditions that span infancy to young adult age groups. Patient population often includes Cerebral Palsy, and those with limb loss and mobility differences.
- Clinic coverage could be across all BCH locations including Boston as well as Waltham, Weymouth, Peabody and Needham as needed
- Working four 10-hour day shifts per week, Monday-Friday with built in administrative time
Minimum Qualifications
Education:- Master’s Degree from a Physician Assistant program or a Master’s Degree in Nursing
Experience:- Previous experience as a PA/NP in pediatrics, orthopedics or other related area is strongly preferred
- A strong desire to work in the pediatric orthopedic setting.
- Ability to work in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons, nurses, Advanced Practice Clinicians (APC) and ambulatory staff is essential.
- Analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts and in-depth, cross-functional experience-based knowledge.
- Communication skills to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions, and well-developed writing skills.
Licensure/ Certifications:- A current license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice as a Physician Assistant or as Nurse Practitioner (PNP or FNP)
