Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner ~ Urgent Care

Perform physical examinations on Adult patients to include patient’s medical, family, and social history.

Documents all patient visits in electronic medical record in a timely manner Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors Interprets subjective and objective data to formulate a diagnosis Formulates treatment plans within the provider’s scope of practice Implements therapeutic interventions when appropriate Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic laboratory tests, EKGs and radiological studies Enters all orders for treatments and medications to be administered Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions Provides patient education and counseling regarding disease processes, test results, discharge planning, and preventative healthcare Makes appropriate referrals to other health professionals and community agencies 

RequirementsLicense as Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the state of MainePA must be a graduate of an accredited physician assistant program; NCCPA certifiedNP must be a graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner programPA must complete 100 hours of CME every two (2) years and take the recertification exam every six (6) yearsCurrent American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS Certification requiredCurrent American Heart Association Healthcare Provider ACLS preferredExperience in Occupational Health preferredDOT Medical Exam Certification required within 6 months of hireExperience in emergency department or urgent care setting preferred

Experience and proficiency in interpreting x-raysExcellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skill and abilityAbility to prioritize patients by level of acuity
