Physician Assistant – Orthopedic Surgery

Location: Flushing, NY
Position Type: Full-Time | Long-Term Contract
Pay Rate: $85–90/hour
Shift: 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM
ROTATING WEEKENDS.

Position Overview

A busy and well-established orthopedic practice in Flushing, NY is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant (PA) for a long-term contract opportunity. This role offers competitive compensation, hands-on surgical experience, and the opportunity to work closely with a collaborative orthopedic team.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in orthopedic surgical procedures
• Perform diagnostic ultrasounds and ultrasound-guided injections
• Conduct joint aspirations and injections
• Complete initial and follow-up patient evaluations
• Participate in morning rounds
• Apply casts and splints
• Order and interpret X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans
• Write post-operative orders and dictate discharge summaries
• Order and monitor physical and occupational therapy services
• Close wounds and assist with post-operative care
• Document patient encounters in the EMR (EPIC preferred)
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
• Active New York State Physician Assistant license (required)
• 1–2 years of orthopedic surgery experience preferred
• Experience with EPIC or another EMR system
• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds
• Bilingual candidates are a plus
• Excellent communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach
