At NorthBay Health, the Physician Assistant (PA) - Ortho Surgical functions as a member of the multidisciplinary patient care provider team. The Physician Assistant is a health professional with advanced education and/or training in the care of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations, to include ambulatory and surgical care. Provides care to patients within the ambulatory medical office, as well as to perform as surgical assistant to qualified surgeons within the hospital operating room and ambulatory surgery center settings. Under the medical supervision of a qualified and accredited physician, the Physician Assistant works in ongoing collaboration within the inpatient and ambulatory practice settings and as articulated within his or her scope of practice as defined by the State of California.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
Education: Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program approved by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Evidence of training related to functioning as a surgical first assistant is mandatory.
Licensure/Credentials: Current Physician Assistant licensure by the State of California Physician Assistant Examining Committee. AHA ALS required. Maintains a current Furnishing Number for medications. Maintains a current DEA license for schedule II drugs and above or can achieve within 60 days of hire.
Experience: Minimum of three years experience as a Physician Assistant practicing in a related field. Minimum of two years' experience as a surgical first assistant.
Skills: Demonstrates ability to evaluate patient's physical and emotional status. Demonstrates ability to provide patient care based on age-related needs. Demonstrates current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for patients in the following age groups: adult, adolescent, pediatric and geriatric. Proven expertise in the area of surgical preparation and role as first assistant to surgeons within the hospital and/or ambulatory setting. EHR, computer, MS Word, Outlook experience required.

Hours of Work: Variable hours with flexibility for surgical and departmental needs.
Compensation: Min $88.42 - MAX $107.45 (Max rate is commensurate of 20+ years as a PA)
