Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Government Medical Director, the Physician Assistant provides comprehensive medical care, oversight of paramedics, and clinical support for specialized training programs in accordance with State of Texas, NREMT, and government standards. This role includes patient evaluation and treatment, electronic medical record documentation, peer review, medical readiness activities, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams while supporting training operations in clinic and field environments with a flexible work schedule.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Must hold a current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • License: Maintain a valid, unrestricted license to practice as a PA in any U.S.
    state.
  • Experience:
    • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in Family Medicine OR
    • Flight Medicine OR
    • Occupational Medicine OR
    • Urgent Care OR
    • Emergency Medicine

U.S. Citizenship is required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under overall supervision from the Government Medical Director, provide medical supervision to paramedics IAW the State of Texas and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) standards.
  • Document encounters in the electronic medical record (MHS Genesis). Conduct peer reviews as assigned and required by the Government Medical Director. Precept and co- sign notes by non-privileged providers as required by the Government Medical Director.
  • Support flight medicine standards for medical clearances. Conduct human performance activities commensurate with credentialing and certification at various training sites.
  • Perform patient evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment activities wherever needed, including in clinic, at training pools, and/or in the field in support of SWTW courses. Provide medical coverage for training activities, as required.
  • Participate in regular weekly meetings with other medics and physicians to provide patient medical status and treatment updates.
  • Provide professional assessments and medical recommendations for student progression through the training pipeline.
  • Report all activities to the appropriate Government oversight, which may be required as inputs into the Human Performance Utilization Tracker (HPUT) or similar database.
  • Work a non-standard schedule, extended hours, and/or rotating shifts which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays, but not to exceed 40 hours per week.

Work Environment & Schedule: Onsite, Monday-Friday, standard 0800 to 1600 or 0900 to 1700 workday. The HCW shall be flexible and may need to deviate from the typical work week schedule.

Physical requirements: Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, lift up to 25 pounds, perform patient examinations and procedures, use standard medical equipment, communicate effectively, respond to emergencies, and work safely in a clinical environment while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Compensation & Benefits: Up to $145,000/year.
