JOB SUMMARY:
Emergency Medicine Physicians are responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of emergency medical conditions and injuries while providing clinical leadership and supervision of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) in accordance with hospital policy and state regulations.
This role offers the opportunity to practice broad-spectrum emergency medicine in a collegial, community-focused environment with strong administrative and specialty support.

12-Hour Shifts
Mix of adult and pediatric patients
APP coverage with physician supervision

Position Responsibilities
Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with a wide range of emergency medical conditions
Perform emergency procedures in accordance with clinical privileges
Determine patient disposition, including admission, discharge, or transfer
Provide medical oversight and supervision for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), including chart review and availability for consultation
Collaborate with nursing staff, consultants, and ancillary services to ensure timely, high-quality patient care
Ensure accurate, timely, and complete medical documentation in the electronic health record
Comply with hospital policies, clinical protocols, and quality standards
Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and peer review activities as required
EMTALA Compliance
Comply fully with the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) by providing an appropriate Medical Screening Examination (MSE) to all individuals presenting to the Emergency Department and determining the presence or absence of an emergency medical condition.
Stabilize patients with identified emergency medical conditions within the capability and capacity of the facility or arrange appropriate transfer in accordance with EMTALA regulations and hospital policies.
Ensure all transfers are medically appropriate, properly documented, and coordinated with receiving facilities and transport services.
Collaborate with nursing staff and ancillary services to ensure EMTALA compliance is maintained at all times.
Participate in EMTALA-related education, audits, and quality improvement initiatives as required.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school
Completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited Emergency Medicine residency program
ONGOING COMPETENCIES
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Significant standing, sitting, bending, and some lifting; good manual dexterity, vision and hearing required. Must be able to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues in a fast-paced office environment. Must be able to multi-task and handle a variety of issues at one time.
