    Overview:

     

    ACS-Join

    Alliance Cancer Specialists is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Physician Dispensing Assistant / MID Tech at our Bensalem Location to support our oncology team in providing safe and efficient in-office dispensing of oral medications. This role is essential in ensuring patients receive timely access to their prescribed therapies while maintaining compliance with pharmacy standards and supporting financial assistance efforts.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Dispense oral medications under the supervision of a physician or pharmacist
    • Maintain accurate patient records including demographics, prescriptions, and insurance details
    • Screen for drug interactions using pharmacy management systems
    • Process prescriptions, bill insurance, and submit prior authorizations
    • Assist patients with financial assistance applications for high-cost oral drugs
    • Order cost-effective medications and manage inventory, recalls, and returns
    • Prepare and label prescriptions for physician/pharmacist verification
    • Obtain patient signatures and maintain proper documentation and daily reports
    • Monitor prescription adherence, refills, and persistence
    • Communicate with patients regarding medications, assistance programs, and follow-ups
    • Ensure compliance with infection control procedures and safety protocols
    • Support accreditation standards and participate in quality improvement initiatives

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Minimum 1 year of experience in a retail pharmacy setting
    • Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate recommended (or required by state law)
    • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills
    • Ability to problem-solve and adapt in a fast-paced clinical environment

    Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

    • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs
    • Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for dispensing tasks
    • Exposure to patients and potentially hazardous substances in an oncology setting
    • In-person interaction with patients, physicians, and clinical staff is essential
