Job Details:
- ABEM board certification required
- Minimum 2 years of emergency department experience required to work in freestanding emergency departments, or family medicine with emergency medicine fellowship
- All shifts are on-site coverage with single physician coverage: 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM
- Coverage includes weekends and nights with no call required
- 1 emergency medicine physician per shift at all sites
- Each site has APP support coverage varying by location and hours
- Patient census ranges from approximately 45 to 80 patients per day depending on site
- Patient populations vary by site including elderly, winter Texans, nursing home patients, rural patients, and mixed younger populations
- Sites include Level IV trauma centers; all sites see high acuity cases
- Required procedures include intubation, central line placement, ultrasound utilization, OB delivery, dislocation reductions, chest tube placement, trauma management, and laceration repair
- Physicians must be efficient in managing trauma, STEMI, strokes, and OB deliveries
- Admission rates are 10% at freestanding emergency departments and 20% at the main facility
- Onboarding includes 2 hours of EMR and quality measures training plus 2-3 required shadow shifts
- Case logs will need to be provided during credentialing process
- 4 total positions available

This healthcare system operates multiple emergency care locations across the region, including freestanding emergency departments and a full-service hospital. The facilities range in size from 8 to 18 beds and are equipped to handle a wide variety of emergency medicine cases, including high-acuity and trauma patients. Two of the sites hold Level IV trauma center designations, and all locations are supported by advanced practice providers to assist physicians throughout each shift.
