Job Details:

• ABEM board certification required

• Minimum 2 years of emergency department experience required to work in freestanding emergency departments, or family medicine with emergency medicine fellowship
• 
  
• All shifts are on-site, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM or 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM with single physician coverage
• 
  
• Coverage includes weekends and nights
• 
  
• No call coverage required
• 
  
• Onboarding includes 2-hour orientation for Meditech EMR and local quality measures, plus 2-3 required shadow shifts
• 
  
• Case logs will need to be provided
• 
  
• Sites include Level IV trauma centers as well as freestanding emergency departments
• 
  
• All sites see high acuity patients; physicians must be efficient in central line placement, intubation, dislocation reductions, trauma, STEMI, strokes, and OB deliveries
• 
  
• Required procedures include intubations, central line placement, ultrasound utilization, OB delivery, dislocation reductions, chest tube placement, trauma management, and laceration repair
• 
  
• Average daily patient census ranges from 45 to 80 patients depending on site
• 
  
• APP support staff available at all sites with varying hours of coverage per day
• 
  
• 1 EM physician per shift at all sites
• 
  
• Patient population varies by site including elderly, winter Texans, nursing home patients, rural patients, and mixed demographics
• 
  
• 3-4 positions available

This multi-site healthcare system operates several emergency departments across the region, including full-service emergency departments and freestanding emergency department locations. The facilities are equipped to handle a wide range of emergency cases from high acuity trauma to general emergency medicine, with Level IV trauma center designations at select sites. Each location is supported by APP staff and utilizes Meditech EMR, providing physicians with robust resources to deliver quality emergency care across diverse patient populations.
