Physician (Emergency Medicine) The Veterans Health Administration is seeking a full-time Emergency Medicine Physician for the VA White River Junction Healthcare System in White River Junction, VT. Staff physicians in the Emergency Medicine Section maintain professional, technical, and administrative knowledge and skills to provide effective, timely, and quality responses to patients' clinical needs and problems, while complying with credentialing, privileging, medical record documentation, residency supervision, and other monitoring and evaluation requirements. Provide effective, timely, and quality responses to patients' clinical needs and problems. Maintain high clinical standards and remain current on best practices in Emergency Medicine. Maintain professional, technical, and administrative knowledge, competencies, and skills required for emergency care. Comply with credentialing, privileging, monitoring, and evaluation requirements. Comply with current standards for medical record documentation. Comply with residency supervision requirements. Support patient care needs within the VA White River Junction Healthcare System. Basic Qualifications: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited in accordance with VA policy. Must be proficient in written and spoken English. Must have a Doctor of Medicine degree or equivalent degree from an approved allopathic or osteopathic medical school. Must have a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. Must have completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Residency training must generally be ACGME or AOA approved, or otherwise meet VA physician qualification standards. Applicants pending completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Must be subject to background/security investigation. Must pass a pre-employment physical examination. Must pass pre-employment drug testing and remain subject to testing requirements for this testing designated position. Selective Service registration is required for males born after December 31, 1959. Must complete all application requirements and online onboarding requirements. Preferred Experience: Board certification in Emergency Medicine preferred. Education and Licensure Requirements: Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine is required. Medical degree must be from a school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education or a school of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation, or meet accepted foreign medical graduate requirements. Foreign medical graduates must meet Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates eligibility requirements for the year of graduation, unless otherwise approved under VA policy. Current, full, and unrestricted medical license is required. Residency training must meet VA physician qualification standards. Physical Requirements: Must meet physical requirements under VA Directive and Handbook 5019, Employee Occupational Health Service. Must pass a pre-employment physical examination.
