Physician - Family Medicine

Job Details:

• Provide full-range professional medical services in family medicine or internal medicine in a correctional healthcare setting
• 
  
• Shift schedule: Mondays 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM; Tuesdays through Fridays 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
• 
  
• Cover the medical infirmary with an average census of 14-24 patients, most of whom are low acuity and require weekly or less frequent visits
• 
  
• Address acute patient issues in addition to routine infirmary care for a population of approximately 1,800 patients
• 
  
• Perform basic procedural skills including suturing, splinting, and incision and drainage
• 
  
• Obtain and document patient medical, family, and social history, physical assessments, medications, and allergies, and develop individualized therapeutic care plans
• 
  
• Provide medical orders for prescription refills, medication administration, ancillary testing, and referrals
• 
  
• Direct and oversee advanced practice providers and clinical support personnel regarding treatment plans and patient care
• 
  
• Use EMR system TechCare for documentation and record maintenance in accordance with all regulatory requirements
• 
  
• Daytime support includes nursing staff, APPs, physicians, and a medical director
• 
  
• No call responsibilities required
• 
  
• Full-time commitment required with a minimum candidate commitment of 26 weeks
• 
  
• Board eligible or board certified required; active PA license required; BLS required, ACLS preferred
• 
  
• Corrections experience not required
