Opportunity:

Physician (MD) - Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology


Job Details:

  • Provide locum tenens gastroenterology coverage for open weeks in 2026, with an immediate and urgent need beginning July 6

  • Provider must be able to commit to a 7 14 day stretch; half-week availability will not be considered

  • Open coverage weeks include: July 6 12, August 3 10, August 31 September 7, September 28 October 5, October 26 November 2, November 23 December 6, and December 21 January 7

  • Ongoing need to replace a permanent provider; multiple providers will be accepted for full weeks

  • In-house hours for rounding, consulting, and procedures are Monday through Sunday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM (12 hours per day)

  • 24-hour call coverage required, with callback hours between 7:00 PM and 7:00 AM

  • Approximately 15 patient encounters per shift

  • Higher acuity gastroenterology need; GI fellowship training is preferred

  • Board certification is required

  • ACLS and BLS certifications are required

  • Must be proficient in ERCP (diagnostic and therapeutic) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) both are required

  • Preferred procedural skills include upper and lower GI endoscopy, colonoscopy with biopsy and polypectomy, esophageal dilation and manometry, small bowel biopsy, sigmoidoscopy, liver biopsy, PEG placement, and management of Sengstaken/Blakemore tube

  • Locum to permanent candidates are welcome

  • Nearest airport is Albuquerque International Airport
