Physician - Hematology Oncology

Job Details:

• Provide Hematology/Oncology coverage 4 days per week with 95% outpatient and 5% inpatient responsibilities
• 
  
• Clinic hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with patient contact hours of 6 per day
• 
  
• Night call required Monday through Friday after onsite clinic hours, plus 24-hour call coverage on the weekend before or after scheduled work week
• 
  
• Inpatient responsibilities at two separate medical center locations
• 
  
• West Des Moines location coverage will be inpatient only with no outpatient component
• 
  
• Daily clinic volume ranges from 10 to 30 patients with appointment lengths of 20 minutes
• 
  
• Average daily hospital census of 10 to 15 patients at primary location and 5 to 8 patients at secondary location
• 
  
• Services include patient assessments, new and ongoing treatment plans, changes in therapy, referrals for ancillary services, end of life care, chemotherapy management, and pain management
• 
  
• Ancillary support includes 1 RN or CMA per physician and 2 exam rooms per provider
• 
  
• Medical imaging, lab, and pharmacy services available on site
• 
  
• EMR system is EPIC
• 
  
• Informal teaching opportunity available
• 
  
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology and Oncology preferred; Board Certified in Oncology with Hematology/Oncology experience will be considered
• 
  
• Fellowship trained in Hematology and Oncology required
• 
  
• Active Iowa license or active IMLC required
• 
  
• Must be willing to provide coverage at both Des Moines and West Des Moines locations
• 
  
• Clean malpractice and background required; NPDB Self-Query Report pulled within 30 days must be submitted at time of presentation
