Description
The ideal candidate is a licensed physician with relevant experience and a strong commitment to medical education. They are an innovative leader who ensures that each student's educational experience aligns with the mission of the MMCSOM, while also allowing for appropriate levels of self-direction and personalized learning.
This individual collaborates with professional administrative teams dedicated to career advising, student wellness, academic success, and fostering a supportive and inclusive campus culture. They are responsible for identifying and implementing educational best practices, monitoring individual student performance, and referring students for targeted support and remediation as needed. This position reports directly to the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs.
Essential Functions (Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities):
Administration, Academic Service and Teaching
Collaborates with the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs to lead and build innovative student educational experiences working in collaboration with the to include the Associate Dean for Medical Education, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, and the Assistant Dean for Admissions;
Assists in the implementation of academic and career advisement
Assist and oversees a wellness program including support for mental and emotional health for students.
Supports commencement, orientation week, white coat Ceremony, and match ceremony
Assists in the development of LCME and AAMC periodic reports related to student experience
Serves as liaison to student organizations on campus
Assist in the implementation program to prevent students' mistreatment (how is this different from a coaching and wellness program roles)
Clinical Activity or Teaching: The Assistant Dean of Student Affairs if MD/DO will provide clinical care in her/ his specialty 5 half days per week and participate in the call schedule of the appropriate department.
