Position: Physician - Medical Director
Location: Harlingen, TX 78552
Duration: 3-month contract with possible extension
Pay: $175/hr.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm | 40 hours weekly
Overview: Seeking an experienced Locum Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and oversight for a residential healthcare facility serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Medical Director oversees the delivery of medical, psychiatric, dental, pharmaceutical, and laboratory services, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care for individuals with complex medical, behavioral, and psychiatric needs. This position combines executive medical leadership with direct patient care responsibilities and serves as a key member of the facility's leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership, direction, and oversight for all medical services within the facility.
Ensure the delivery of high-quality healthcare services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including those with complex medical, psychiatric, and behavioral health needs.
Oversee the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing medical management of patients.
Direct the administration of specialized medical treatments and procedures.
Supervise physicians, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs), Physician Assistants, pharmacists, dentists, psychiatrists, and other contracted medical professionals.
Serve as the primary care physician for an assigned patient caseload.
Provide consultation and support to other medical providers on complex clinical cases.
Develop and manage the physician on-call schedule while participating in shared on-call coverage.
Support emergency preparedness, disaster response, and Continuity of Operations (COOP) activities as needed, which may require alternate schedules or work locations.
Exercise independent clinical judgment while working under minimal administrative supervision.
Qualifications:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
Active, unrestricted medical license in the State of Texas.
Current registration with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
National Provider Identifier (NPI).
Eligibility to enroll as a Medicare Part B and Medicaid provider.
Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Experience caring for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and medically complex patient populations is strongly preferred.
