Physician - Neonatologist (1099)

Currently recruiting a Physician-Neonatologist in Tacoma, Washington to provide care to Active Duty heroes, their families, and retirees at Madigan Army Medical Center at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Medical Center (MEDCEN s), the NICU and Labor and Delivery provide services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (366 days during leap years) including holidays. Normal duty hours for the positions shall be varied to change to meet provider s needs. Current operating schedule with typical shifts being 0800 to 1600, Monday through Sunday, or 1600 through 0800 the next day Monday - Sunday. Will share equally in weekend and holiday duties.




DUTIES OF THE PHYSICIAN-NEONATOLOGIST:

• Provides a full range of Neonatal critical care services to newly born infants in our level II/III NICU and coverage for the newborn nursery. This includes assessment, diagnosis, and treatment in the areas of general neonatology, dermatology, infectious diseases, and metabolic diseases, neurological, endocrine, cardiac, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, hematologic, renal, developmental, musculoskeletal disorders, and circumcisions.
• Must be able to obtain a complete medical history and perform complete examinations for all patients presenting for care.
• Must obtain all appropriate tests necessary to diagnose and treat medical conditions within the scope of care of a Neonatologist.
• Makes timely referral to specialty services in accordance with established procedures for patients needing special medical treatment.
• Completely required medical documentation pertaining to all medical services provided in accordance with specified procedures and regulations.
• Participates in Continuing Medical Education programs and in Quality Assurance activities in the Department of Pediatrics to remain current in medical knowledge and practice.
• Maintains all requirements for state licensure and certification by the American Board of Pediatrics. Maintain credentials, CME, and additional required training as set for by the Department of Pediatrics, Madigan Army Medical Center, and the Department of Defense.
• Order and interpret appropriate laboratory tests, both routine and comprehensive in nature for typical neonatal patients in the NICU.
• Evaluate neonates using record review and/or results of the physician's own history, physical, x-ray, and/or laboratory evaluation.
• Formulate treatment plans include medications, therapies, and other modalities, and successfully transition them to the outpatient care team.
• Assist in the development of various training programs regarding care of critically ill neonates.

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE PHYSICIAN-NEONATOLOGIST:

• Degree/Education: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy. Graduation from a medical school in the United States, Canada, or approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (AMA), graduation from a college of osteopathy approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or graduation from a medical school with evidence of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification. Completion of an accredited residency approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
• Experience: One year experience in the last two years, post residency, as a board certified Neonatal-Perinatal Physician.
• Certifications (in addition to Basic Life Support): Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), DEA.
• Board Certification: Board certified in Neonatologist: Neonatal- Perinatal Medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics or the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics. Board Certified in Neonatal - Perinatal Medicine.
• Licensure:Must maintain an unrestricted license in Washington state. Contract workers requiring licensure shall have and maintain a current, valid, unrestricted license specific to the position (with no limitations, stipulations or pending adverse actions) throughout the duration of the contract worker s performance on the contract. Additional licenses held by a contract worker must be in good standing whether they are inactive, expired, or limit the contract worker s practice to a military setting. The Contractor shall adhere to requirements outlined in the applicable regulation/directive at the place of performance.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen;or a lawful permanent resident authorized to work in the US. (for access to Government computer systems)
