Opportunity Information:

Seeking a BC/BE OBGYN to join our OBGYN hospitalist program at Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, CA (Bay Area)

Our OBGYN hospitalist service provides 24/7 in-house care at Eden Medical Center with one in-house provider at a time. Responsibilities will include delivery attendance, OB triage, patient evaluation and management, surgical and OB delivery assists, fetal monitoring, ED coverage for OB and Gyn patients, gynecologic consults, and urgent/emergent gynecologic surgery. Our OBGYN hospitalists work collaboratively with local obstetricians who deliver at Eden Hospital. They consult with MFM providers at our high-risk sister hospital in nearby Berkeley, CA to easily transfer out any high-risk or preterm patients. In-house pediatric hospitalist, trauma surgeon, anesthesiologist, adult medicine hospitalist, emergency medicine provider, and intensivist are available. Assistance for Cesareans and gynecologic cases is provided by the two private OBGYN groups that deliver at Eden. Emergency Cesarean assistance is provided by the trauma surgeon if no other OB is in house.

Qualifications:
  • An active and unrestricted CA license
  • Current DEA license

Organization Details:

Eden Medical Center part of the Sutter Health Network delivers comprehensive, quality, and award-winning care. It is the regional trauma center for Southern Alameda County. The current Eden Hospital was constructed in 2012 and delivers approximately 1,200 babies from within our community annually. The hospital s birth center has:

  • 5 L&D rooms, 2 triage beds, 1 L&D OR, 12 postpartum beds
  • a 6-bed Level I-II NICU with care starting at 34 weeks. All deliveries are attended with an in-house pediatric hospitalist. Specialized pediatric RN and respiratory therapist for support as needed.
  • Minimum of one in-house anesthesiologist for 24/7 coverage
  • A full electronic medical record system (EPIC) and remote fetal heart rate monitoring
