Our organization is in search of a Palliative Care Physician to take on the role of Campus Lead at Paoli Hospital, a vital leadership position within our well-established interdisciplinary palliative care program.

This role is primarily focused on inpatient care while also encompassing campus-level leadership responsibilities. The Lead Physician acts as a clinical expert, team leader, and strategic collaborator, working alongside a skilled team of nurse practitioners, social workers, and hospice partners to provide exceptional, patient-centered care.

Distinct from conventional leadership roles, this position prioritizes collaboration, influence, and the advancement of the program, supporting a seasoned team that operates with a significant degree of autonomy.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Care
  • Deliver high-quality inpatient palliative care consultations at Paoli Hospital.

  • Lead and engage in daily interdisciplinary team meetings, directing care planning and consult assignments.

  • Oversee a personal patient panel while facilitating team-based care delivery.

  • Guide discussions on goals of care, symptom management, and end-of-life considerations.

  • Collaborate with hospitalists, specialists, and care teams to enhance patient outcomes and transitions, including hospice services.

Leadership & Team Support
  • Act as the primary clinical leader and resource for the campus palliative care team.

  • Serve as a liaison between palliative care, hospital-based physicians, and system leadership.

  • Encourage team development through mentorship, education, and role modeling (no co-signing of APP notes/orders is necessary).

  • Enhance workflows, communication, and best practices throughout the team.

  • Contribute to fostering a high-functioning, collaborative team culture.

Program Development
  • Collaborate with system leadership to further develop the palliative care program, including potential expansion into outpatient and post-acute settings.

  • Identify areas for improving efficiency, access, and quality of care.

  • Engage in educational initiatives, including lectures and interdisciplinary learning opportunities.

Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hospice & Palliative Medicine.

  • Eligibility for a Pennsylvania medical license.

  • DEA license is required.

  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach are essential.
