Opportunity:

Physician - Critical Care Pediatric


Job Details:

  • 24-hour on-campus/call shifts running 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM, Saturday and Sunday (most likely starting Saturday 7:00 AM and ending Monday 7:00 AM)

  • Weekend-only call coverage required

  • Round with 2-3 pediatric/ED residents with overnight call supported by 1 resident

  • ICU encompasses medical, surgical, and neuro units; level II & III NICU; and a dedicated pediatric unit

  • 24-hour radiology, X-ray, CT/MRI, laboratory with 2-hour turnaround, and operating room available on-site

  • Surgical services include general, neuro, orthopedic, cardiothoracic, and vascular

  • Specialist support includes radiologist, cardiologist, pulmonologist, gastroenterologist, neurologist, urologist, hem/onc, and psychiatrist

  • Manage medical conditions including cardiac/respiratory arrest, sepsis, renal failure, and poisoning

  • Handle surgical pre- and post-op conditions as well as traumatic injuries such as blunt force or penetrating injuries, fractures, and dislocations

  • Perform procedures including vent management, chest tube insertion, central and arterial lines, transfusions, ICP evaluation, hemodialysis, and diagnostic taps

  • Utilize point-of-care ultrasound equipment

  • EMR system: Epic

  • Patient population: pediatric, adolescent, and infant; average daily census of 11

  • Board Certification in Critical Care required

  • Active South Carolina medical license required

  • Required certifications: PALS, ACLS, and BLS

  • DEA required

  • Minimum 1 year of experience required; must be out of training and have been practicing medicine for at least 2 years

  • Clean malpractice history required
