Job Description

Opportunity:

Physician (MD) - Pediatrics - Critical Care Medicine


Job Details:

  • Provide critical care coverage in an 8-bed pediatric department seeing 8-12 patients per shift

  • Board certification required with minimum board certification eligibility accepted

  • Fellowship training required (3 years)

  • BLS and PALS certifications required

  • Level 2 trauma facility with Level 2 pediatric designation

  • Required to manage non-invasive and invasive ventilation for both newborn and pediatric patients, including familiarity with nitric oxide (iNO) and ECMO

  • Perform and manage procedures including intubation (ETT/NT) for newborns and pediatrics, central line insertion, arterial line insertion, and PA catheter insertion

  • Perform umbilical venous catheter (UVC) and umbilical arterial catheter (UAC) placements

  • Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including lumbar puncture, paracentesis, thoracentesis, chest tube insertion, and needle pneumothorax decompression

  • Perform conscious and deep sedation, bronchoscopy with bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL), and exchange transfusions

  • Manage ICP evaluation, ICP monitor placement, and hemodialysis catheter placement

  • Provide temporary pacemaker management and evaluation and management of acute volume and blood pressure issues

  • Perform X-ray and EKG interpretation, suturing of minor lacerations, circumcisions, and swallow studies

The pediatric critical care unit is equipped with 8 beds and operates as a Level 2 pediatric and trauma center, providing advanced care for critically ill and injured children. The facility maintains high standards of clinical excellence and supports a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
