Physician - Psychiatry The Veterans Health Administration is seeking a board certified or board eligible Psychiatrist for the VA Black Hills Health Care System in Fort Meade, SD. The Staff Psychiatrist provides general outpatient mental health care as part of a multidisciplinary Mental Health Service Line team, including comprehensive assessments and treatment for Veterans with conditions such as psychosis, posttraumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, addiction, and organic mental illness. Location: Fort Meade, SD Vacancies: 1 Salary: $250,000 - $315,000 per year Salary Note: Education and length of practice are considered through a formal pay-setting process to determine final compensable salary, including base pay and market pay. Pay Scale & Grade: VM-15 Promotion Potential: None Work Schedule: Full-time, typically Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm Additional Schedule Details: Psychiatrist will take on-call hours for nights, weekends, and holidays on rotation with six additional providers. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team including psychologists, social workers, and nursing staff. Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and treatment planning. Treat Veterans with diagnoses including psychosis, PTSD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, addiction, and organic mental illness. Provide on-call coverage for residential treatment and inpatient psychiatry. Participate in the Whole Health System of care by supporting personalized health planning for Veterans. Coordinate care in the context of healing relationships, healing environments, and connection to the Veteran's community. Complete all required CME, VA training, HIPAA training, security training, and other mandatory training. Perform other related duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited in accordance with VA policy. Must be proficient in written and spoken English. Must have a Doctor of Medicine degree or equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine. Must have a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. Must have completed approved residency training in an accredited core specialty program leading to eligibility for board certification. Must be subject to a background/security investigation. Must pass a pre-employment physical examination. Must pass pre-employment drug testing and remain subject to testing requirements for this testing designated position. Education and Licensure Requirements: Must have a Doctor of Medicine degree or equivalent degree from an approved school of allopathic or osteopathic medicine. Osteopathic medical degree must be from a school approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation for the year the degree was granted. Foreign medical graduates must meet Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates eligibility requirements for the year graduated, unless otherwise covered by VA policy. Must hold a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
