Mercy Clinic is seeking a Sports Medicine-fellowship trained Orthopedic Surgeon to join our well-established, high-performing team of 10 orthopedic surgeons serving two state-of-the-art campuses: Mercy Hospital Joplin and Mercy Specialty Hospital Southeast Kansas in Galena-located just 15 minutes apart. As part of Mercy Clinic, a physician-led, professionally managed multi-specialty group with more than 3,500 physicians, you will practice in one of the nation's largest and most integrated healthcare organizations.
Position Highlights:
• Partner with local Family Medicine/Sports Medicine physicians to provide coverage for area high schools and youth football programs, with opportunities to expand sports partnerships. • Established Concussion Clinic Program with strong community demand. • Collaborative support from experienced athletic trainers, physical therapists, and orthopedic PA's and NP's. • State-of-the-art operating rooms equipped with advanced technology. • Rehabilitation center featuring HydroWorx therapy pools. • Dedicated orthopedic hospital and HOD surgery center at the Galena campus. • System-wide Epic electronic health record.
Compensation & Benefits:
$650,000 guarantee within a strong, integrated health system. $50,000 recruitment bonus. Up to $20,000 relocation assistance. $5,000 annual CME allowance. Four weeks of vacation, six paid holidays, plus five CME days during the guarantee period. Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, and robust Physician Wellness Programs. Mercy qualifies for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 185 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who wanted to help the poor women and children of Dublin. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill her dreams. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to poor women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, the first religious order not bound to the rules of the cloister, whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. By the time Catherine died in 1841, there were convents in Ireland and England, and in 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1871, they traveled to St. Louis and from there throughout the Midwest, beginning what would, today be known as Mercy.
