Job Description: Physician Administrator
Location: Toledo OH 43614
Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Hours/week: 16 Hours/week

Position Summary
The Physician Administrator oversees and directs the medical care provided to residents of developmental centers. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the delivery of medical services, establishing policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with standards required for Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID).

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee medical care delivery by planning, coordinating, and directing services across developmental centers.
- Establish and implement medical policies and procedures consistent with ICF/IID standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (psychology, psychiatry, case managers, nursing staff, direct care staff, family/guardians) to address health and safety concerns.
- Order and implement medical interventions including medications, diagnostic testing, treatments, and referrals.
- Serve as the primary care physician for designated residents by conducting physicals, diagnosing medical concerns, prescribing treatments, and monitoring patient progress.
- Collaborate with Certified Nurse Practitioners at each facility to ensure continuity of care.
- Consult with facility committees (admission/discharge, unusual incidents, infection control, emergency preparedness, medication review, human rights).
- Provide medical expertise to external stakeholders including DD county boards, DD Central Office divisions, and other medical professionals/providers.

Duties in Order of Importance
- Direct systems for children with special health care needs and establish medical policies related to diagnosis and treatment.
- Act as medical director for infectious disease control, defining parameters for statewide surveillance and directing staff activities.
- Administer infectious disease control investigations and supervise medical and support personnel.
- Formulate and implement medical policy on behalf of the agency director.
- Provide direct medical or psychiatric care in complex cases, including comprehensive examinations, diagnoses, and treatments.
- Act as medical supervisor during disease outbreak investigations or other medical emergencies.
- Oversee maternal and child health services, block grants, and resource allocation proposals.
- Provide medical consultation to child and family health programs, establishing standards of care and participating in statewide service planning.
