Instructs Physics classes, lectures, and laboratory sessions for students from diverse backgrounds and/or cultures. Teaches and develops various courses within the discipline of Physics, ranging from introductory to more advanced coursework. Uses multiple methods of instruction, assessment, and appropriate technologies to engage students and promote student success.
Participates in division meetings, campus organizations, and curriculum development as needed.
Essential Functions
• Supervises and instructs a diverse population of students in a classroom setting. • Develops written syllabi, course outlines, and course materials. • Uses learner-centered strategies to engage students and promote student success. • Assesses and evaluates knowledge of subject matter taught and monitors students scholastic records. • Prepares and grades examinations, lab assessments, and other learning activities. • Participates in division and college assessment and program review processes. • Uses assessment and evaluation results to improve instruction and student learning. • Develops instructional materials and curriculum, demonstrating innovation in teaching and learning. • Focuses on student learning retention and achievement, incorporating instructional technology and alternative delivery or scheduling techniques. • Maintains a team approach and collaborates positively with faculty, staff, and students.
Remains current with new trends and developments in the field through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars, and workshops. Participates in college and district activities, including department, division meetings, committees, workshops, and projects.
Maintains office hours and email contacts to assist tutors and advise students, promoting learning, citizenship, and personal development. Works with students outside of the classroom on instructional activities and projects.
