This is an on-call position, which means it is a part-time, hourly role. This position will work at least 2- 10 hours per week and no more than 39 hours per week. The pay for this position $20.31 per hour and is eligible to enroll in the City and County of Denver’s 457b retirement plan. This position is not eligible for other additional benefits. On‐call positions may have routine or variable work schedules.
This position can expect to work on-site at Barnum Recreation Center in Denver.
The City and County of Denver’s Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) offers Arts and Culture programming throughout the year at many of our 30 recreation centers. We offer a wide variety of classes in areas such as: fine arts, pottery, ceramics, sewing, music, dance, creative writing and a wide range of crafts and creative early childhood programming (18 month to 5 years old), youth programming (6-18), and adult programming (18+). Our instructors lead classes of 4-12 participants through a preset schedule of weekly sessions to become familiar and confident in the topic area of choice. Our programming offers our instructors the opportunity to teach a variety of age groups in recreation centers throughout the city.
The Arts and Culture Team is looking to hire a friendly and fun piano instructor who has a passion for connecting youth communities (ages 6 – 12) through music.
In this role you will:
• Create, plan, implement, and instruct piano classes for Denver’s youth communities
• Create supply lists for classes
• Setup before, and breakdown/cleanup after each class
• Respond to class-specific inquiries from participants and community members
• Collect and report feedback to the Arts & Culture Program Coordinators for future programming improvement
Our instructors must have a passion and knowledge of arts and culture activities and should possess strong skills in communication and organization. We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic about connecting communities and sparking creativity.
