Are you hardworking and enjoy hands-on work and staying active throughout the day? Penmac Staffing is seeking a Picker for a local metal scrap yard in the Springfield area. This position is ideal for someone who is self-motivated, dependable, and comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather conditions.Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Willingness to perform dirty, physical labor in an industrial environment
- Strong work ethic and self-motivation
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to safely follow workplace procedures and safety guidelines
- Mechanical aptitude is a plus
- Previous experience in general labor, recycling, construction, manufacturing, or equipment operation is helpful but not required
ResponsibilitiesAs a Picker, you will assist with daily scrap yard operations and help ensure materials are safely sorted and processed. Duties include:
- Sort and process scrap metal and recyclable materials
- Cut apart and prepare materials for processing
- Assist with equipment maintenance and minor repairs
- Operate machinery and equipment as trained
- Learn and operate scales as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Interact professionally with customers and the public
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Physical RequirementsThis position requires frequent physical activity, including:
- Lifting, carrying, and moving materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds or more
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing
- Working in an outdoor industrial environment
