Shaw Boiler and Mechanical is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pipe Fitter / Welder to join our growing team in Portsmouth, Virginia. We are looking for professionals who take pride in their craftsmanship, value safety and professionalism, and want to build a long-term career with a company that operates at a higher standard.


This is not entry-level work. We are seeking experienced individuals with a strong background in commercial and industrial piping systems, welding, fabrication, and mechanical installations.


What You’ll Do

• Install, assemble, modify, and maintain commercial and industrial piping systems
• Perform high-quality welding and fabrication work in both field and shop environments
• Read and interpret blueprints, isometrics, and technical drawings
• Troubleshoot and repair piping and mechanical systems
• Work on steam, hydronic, fuel gas, and process piping systems
• Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards
• Collaborate with project managers, technicians, and field personnel to complete projects successfully
• Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in clean and professional condition

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of pipe fitting and welding experience
• Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial mechanical systems
• Ability to read and interpret construction and mechanical drawings
• Experience with field fabrication and welding
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends when required
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
