Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Pipe Foreman to lead an underground utility crew on site development and heavy civil construction projects throughout the Baltimore area. The Pipe Foreman will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day installation of underground utility systems, managing crew productivity, coordinating with equipment operators and project supervision, and ensuring all work is completed safely and according to plan.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a crew performing underground utility installation
  • Oversee installation of water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage systems
  • Read and interpret construction plans, cut sheets, specifications, and grade information
  • Ensure pipe is installed to the proper line and grade
  • Coordinate daily activities with equipment operators, laborers, and other field personnel
  • Plan and organize daily work to maintain productivity and keep projects on schedule
  • Oversee installation of manholes, inlets, catch basins, valves, and other underground utility structures
  • Work closely with project managers and superintendents to coordinate Client, equipment, materials, and project needs
  • Monitor quality of work and ensure installations meet project specifications
  • Maintain a safe work environment and enforce proper trench and excavation safety practices
  • Assist with layout, problem-solving, and coordination of underground utility work
  • Track daily progress and communicate production, challenges, and jobsite needs to management
  • Lead by example and provide guidance and training to less experienced crew members

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Pipe Foreman, Utility Foreman, or Underground Utility Foreman
  • Strong hands-on experience installing water, sewer, and storm drainage systems
  • Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans and understand line and grade
  • Experience leading pipe crews and coordinating work around excavators and other heavy equipment
  • Strong understanding of trench safety and underground utility construction
  • Ability to manage crew productivity while maintaining quality and safety
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work outdoors and travel to projects throughout the Baltimore area

Preferred Experience

Candidates with a background in site development, heavy civil construction, wet utilities, municipal infrastructure, and stormwater management are strongly preferred. Experience running multiple crew members and taking ownership of daily production and utility installation activities is highly desirable.
