Pipe layer - Location: Harlingen, TX
Position Overview
The Pipe layer is responsible for installing sanitary and stormwater sewer systems by accurately aligning, positioning, and connecting pipe structures according to project specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Install sanitary and stormwater sewer structures and pipe systems.
- Cut pipes to specified lengths according to project requirements.
- Assist with aligning pipes during pipeline construction.
- Align and position pipes for welding or sealing.
- Verify slopes and grades using levels, lasers, or other measuring equipment.
- Connect pipe sections and seal joints using welding equipment, cement, or approved adhesives.
- Tap and drill holes in pipes to install auxiliary lines or devices.
- Cover pipes with soil or other approved materials.
- Grade and level trench bases using tamping machines and hand tools.
- Train crew members in proper pipe-laying techniques.
- Perform other general labor and construction-related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Ability to read and follow building plans, blueprints, and supervisory instructions; lay out work accurately; and perform tasks efficiently using the appropriate tools and materials.
- Must be physically capable of performing manual labor in various environments and conditions, including heavy lifting (over 50 lbs.).
- Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions with consistency and accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal competencies, including a drive for results, timely follow-through, effective verbal communication, organization, planning, dependability, trust, respect, and cooperation.
- Must provide and maintain all required hand tools necessary to perform assigned tasks.
- Demonstrates strong housekeeping practices and maintains a clean, orderly work area.
