We have an exciting opportunity for a Pipe Welder position in Portsmouth Virginia!
Qualifications:
- Have at least 2+ years of pipe welding experience in a marine environment
- Must be able to operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse copper and nickel segments, using processes such as open root and TIG fillet
- Able to weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Must be DBIDS Eligible
- OSHA 10 Required
- Knowledge, or experience and must pass qualification test for each process
- Knowledge of a range of welding principles, processes, and techniques requiring complete penetration and fusion of base and filler metals.
- Ability to maintain dimensions and tolerances to specifications, weld parts and structures that vary in size, shape and thickness.
Job Duties entail but are not limited to:
- Use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products.
- Ignites torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits.
- Clamps, holds, tack-welds, heat-bends, grinds and/or bolts component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
- Detects faulty operation of equipment and/or defective materials and notify supervisors.
- Monitors the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
- Recognizes, sets up, and operates hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
Schedule:
- Monday-Saturday 6am-2:45pm
- Must be flexible on hours
Pay:
- $28-$34/hr based on experience
