This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, wants to develop a career in the mechanical trades, and is ready to learn alongside experienced Pipefitters and field professionals.What You'll DoSupport Piping InstallationAssist Pipefitters with the layout, assembly, installation, and maintenance of commercial piping systemsHelp measure, cut, prepare, and assemble pipe using hand and power toolsAssist with the installation of pipes, valves, fittings, supports, and related componentsPrepare pipe ends by grinding, cleaning, and applying sealants as requiredSupport the installation of heating, cooling, hydronic, and other mechanical piping systemsAssist with pressure testing and checking piping systems for leaksPrepare Tools & MaterialsGather and prepare tools, materials, fittings, and equipment needed for daily workTransport tools and materials safely throughout the jobsiteAssist experienced Pipefitters with material layout and preparationMaintain tools and equipment in good working conditionKeep work areas organized and free of unnecessary materials or hazardsLearn the TradeWork alongside experienced Pipefitters to develop hands-on piping and mechanical skillsLearn to read and understand basic construction drawings, specifications, and measurementsDevelop knowledge of piping materials, fittings, valves, tools, and installation methodsFollow instructions from Foremen, Pipefitters, and other field leadershipBuild the skills necessary to advance into a Pipefitter or other skilled mechanical trade positionWork SafelyFollow VMG safety policies, OSHA requirements, and jobsite-specific safety proceduresWear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all timesProperly use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other jobsite equipmentIdentify and report unsafe conditions or potential hazardsMaintain a clean and safe work environmentWhat You BringEntry-level candidates are encouraged to applyHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredBasic understanding of hand tools, power tools, or mechanical systems preferredStrong willingness to learn and take direction from experienced field professionalsDependable, hardworking, and able to work effectively as part of a teamAbility to perform physically demanding construction work, including lifting 50+ poundsAbility to work safely in active commercial construction environmentsReliable transportation to assigned jobsitesPreferred ExperiencePrevious construction, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, or piping experienceFamiliarity with basic construction tools and equipmentExperience working in a commercial construction environmentOSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certificationInterest in developing a long-term career in the mechanical tradesWhat We OfferCompetitive compensation based on experienceMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off and company holidaysHands-on training and professional development opportunitiesOpportunities to advance into Pipefitter and other skilled trade positionsThe opportunity to work on challenging commercial mechanical projectsA supportive, team-oriented environment where your contributions matterWhy VMG?At VMG, our field teams are at the center of the work we do.
