As a Skilled Pipefitter at Ingalls Shipbuilding, you help build the critical piping systems that bring our nation's most advanced ships to life. From fuel and steam systems to hydraulics, ventilation, and climate control, your work helps every vessel operate safely, reliably, and at peak performance.

What You Can Earn

  • Earn up to $39.04 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

What You'll Do

  • Fit and install piping systems made from materials such as steel, galvanized pipe, copper, copper‑nickel, and stainless steel.
  • Install valves, fittings, and components following drawings, arrangements, and blueprints.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment to ensure proper fit, alignment, and installation.
  • Work in a shipyard environment that may include heights, tight spaces, and changing weather conditions.
  • Support production across multiple shifts as needed to meet ship construction schedules.
  • Follow Ingalls' strong safety standards in every task and work area.

What You Bring

  • Hands‑on pipefitting experience in industrial, construction, or shipyard environments
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and system layouts
  • Skill in fitting and installing a variety of piping materials and components
  • Strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork

Must Have

  • 2 yrs of marine, industrial or petro-chemical pipefitting experience
  • Completed high school or equivalent pipefitting technical program with NCCER certification.

Nice to Have

High school graduate or equivalent, Tech Master Certification
