Pipeline Engineer – Midstream Oil & Gas (Hybrid – Dallas, TX)

ARC Group is seeking a Pipeline Engineer for our client in Dallas, Texas. This is a hybrid role based in the Dallas office supporting midstream oil and gas operations, including pipeline systems, measurement facilities, and related processing and storage assets.


Position Overview

The Pipeline Engineer performs intermediate-level engineering and project support activities related to the design, analysis, construction, and optimization of midstream pipeline and facility systems. This role supports both operational and capital projects involving transmission and gathering systems, measurement and regulation stations, and associated infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Technical Support

  • Support engineering activities for design, construction, and optimization of midstream assets, including:
    • Transmission and gathering pipeline systems
    • Compressor, pump, and dehydration facilities
    • Measurement and regulation stations
    • Hydrocarbon storage and processing facilities
  • Perform pipeline engineering analysis including:
    • Pipeline sizing and hydraulic calculations
    • Flow analysis and system evaluation
    • Valve and equipment selection
  • Provide technical input on:
    • Facility design and operational improvements
    • Pipeline control systems
    • Maintenance and process safety considerations

Project Engineering & Management

  • Support and manage engineering and construction projects from planning through execution
  • Prepare and support:
    • Bid packages and contract documentation
    • AFEs (Authorization for Expenditure) and cost tracking
    • Management of Change (MOC) documentation
    • Material and equipment specifications
  • Coordinate project schedules, timelines, and progress reporting
  • Manage change orders and support contractor coordination
  • Provide construction and field execution support as needed

Analysis, Evaluation & Optimization

  • Conduct load studies and evaluate pipeline and facility capacity
  • Perform economic and operational analysis for new and existing projects
  • Identify system inefficiencies and recommend optimization opportunities
  • Evaluate measurement systems for accuracy, capacity, and cost efficiency
  • Support feasibility studies and acquisition-related technical evaluations

Research, Compliance & Reporting

  • Research and interpret industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare engineering studies, technical reports, and cost estimates
  • Review contracts, bids, and technical specifications
  • Ensure alignment with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory compliance

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Petroleum Engineering

Experience Requirements

  • 3+ years of engineering experience (midstream oil & gas strongly preferred)
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
    • Pipeline operations (transmission or gathering systems)
    • Liquids measurement and regulation
    • Processing, storage, or midstream facilities
    • Engineering design and pipeline system evaluation
    • Project engineering or capital project support
  • Proficiency with:
    • Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, Access (or similar tools)
    • Engineering documentation, budgets, contracts, and technical reporting

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of pipeline systems and hydrocarbon facilities
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, flow analysis, and system design principles
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, contracts, and regulatory documents
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Effective communication and coordination skills across teams and contractors
  • Strong technical writing and documentation ability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Midstream oil & gas industry experience strongly preferred
  • Exposure to pipeline hydraulics, measurement systems, or facility optimization projects
  • Experience supporting capital project execution in an engineering environment
