Job Title

This position supervises work crews for both routine and emergency maintenance, repair and construction of water and sewer utilities, stormwater systems, equipment facilities.

Job Description

Organizes/coordinates/schedules daily activities and functions of assigned work crews. Maintains, reviews and summarizes daily activity logs. Reviews and monitors safety equipment, instructs crews in proper work methods and correct safety procedures. Assigns work crews to emergency operations. Trains and develops staff on utilization of equipment and operations. Utilizes electronic devices and equipment with computerized programs and communication technologies for scheduling and time management relating to all work performed in a professional and timely fashion. Interfaces with other units/core services and city officials in a professional and timely fashion. Ensures compliance with county, state and OSHA regulations; coordinates use of external resources/vendors. Assists with monitoring, analyzing/assessing effectiveness and efficiency of all aspects of work performed. Assists with establishing workload priorities to meet deadlines. Coordinates and ensures appropriate supply of work materials; tracks and maintains store inventories. Participates in hiring of staff, job descriptions, performance reviews and disciplinary actions. Participates in staffing and business planning efforts. Arranges for major equipment at emergency and scheduled work sites. Ensures master schedule of routine maintenance operations. Assist with research for cost and oversees expenditures for the operations and equipment needed. Ensures staffing needs for all assigned operations. Ensures effectiveness and efficiency of all aspects of work performed and recommends adjustments to job plans. Ensures long range maintenance plans and coordinates with outreach groups. Prepares, schedules and conducts performance review sessions and disciplinary actions. Ensures and monitors vendor contracts; assists in union negotiations. Manages proactive assessments of fraud awareness, prevention, detection and risk mitigation activities in area of responsibility; oversees financial, compliance, operational and performance audits; reviews audit findings and ensures appropriate controls are established and implemented.

Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

About You

Minimum Qualifications: A High School Diploma or its equivalent and four (4) years of related experience, including supervisor experience or a two (2) year Associates degree with two (2) years of related experience, in including supervisor experience in operation, maintenance, repair and construction of the water and sewer utilities or related. Valid Florida Driver's License. Must be able to obtain within six (6) months from date of hire and maintain a Valid State of Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class "A" with Tanker "N" endorsement.

Preferred Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in engineering, business management, public administration or related field. Florida Department Environmental Protection (FDEP): Water Distribution System-Level 3, Drinking Water Treatment-Class C and or Wastewater Treatment-Class C Certification(s). NASSCO-PACP, MACP & LACP Certification(s). TREEO Backflow Prevention certification. While not required, we prefer that if hired employee obtains within two (2) years date of hire. Two (2) years of Wastewater Collection System Cleaning, Televising and Maintenance.

Proficient with Maximo and other web base software programs.

Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
