Join a leading marina and marine service organization supporting some of the world's largest yachts and vessels. This position leads a specialized piping department responsible for pipe welding, plumbing, and valve service operations. The role combines team leadership, operational management, project coordination, budgeting, scheduling, and customer support to ensure high-quality work is delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Responsibilities:
* Lead, coach, and develop Trade Leads and technicians within the Piping Department
* Manage daily schedules, manpower allocation, materials, and equipment across active projects
* Support project planning, estimating, budgeting, job costing, and change order management
* Partner with Project Managers to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget
* Coordinate with customers, captains, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve technical and operational issues
* Monitor department productivity, labor utilization, and operational performance
* Oversee quality assurance initiatives and ensure compliance with safety and marine industry standards
* Support hiring, workforce planning, training, and employee development efforts
* Ensure department certifications, records, equipment, and materials are maintained and available as needed
Qualifications:
* 10+ years of progressive skilled-trades experience within pipe welding, pipefitting, plumbing, valve service, shipboard engineering, or marine mechanical systems
* Previous leadership or management experience leading crews or trade teams
* Previous marine, shipyard, yacht, commercial vessel, or naval experience
* Expertise in at least one relevant discipline, such as valve service, pipe welding, plumbing, pipefitting, or marine mechanical systems
* Understanding of shipboard piping systems, valves, materials, and repair practices
* Experience managing schedules, manpower, budgets, labor utilization, job costing, and operational performance
* Experience developing and mentoring skilled trades personnel
* Familiarity with quality assurance programs, OSHA requirements, and industry safety standards
* Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and basic Excel
* Valid driver's license
* High School Diploma or GED
Preferred:
* College degree in a related field
* Experience working with marine classification societies and certification programs
