    Description

    Hunton Group is seeking to hire a Piping Engineer for our Hunton Trane division. The Piping Engineer will be responsible for the design, layout, coordination, and support of piping systems for commercial and industrial HVAC projects. This role will work closely with project managers, sales engineers, controls, field operations, and customers to deliver efficient and high-quality piping system solutions that meet project specifications, schedules, and budget requirements.

    Responsibilities:

    • Design and develop piping systems for commercial and industrial HVAC applications, including chilled water, condenser water, heating hot water, and process piping systems.
    • Prepare piping layouts, specifications, calculations, and engineering documentation.
    • Coordinate piping designs with mechanical, structural, electrical, and controls teams to ensure successful project execution.
    • Review project drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to ensure compliance with design standards and codes.
    • Assist with equipment selection and piping system sizing.
    • Support estimating, project management, and field teams during project execution and installation.
    • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and coordination efforts with customers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
    • Provide technical support for troubleshooting, system modifications, and commissioning activities as needed.
    • Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, codes, and safety requirements.
    • Maintain accurate project documentation and engineering records.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field required.
    • 3+ years of piping design or mechanical engineering experience preferred.
    • Experience with commercial or industrial HVAC systems is strongly preferred.
    • Knowledge of chilled water, condenser water, hydronic, and process piping systems.
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, or other engineering design software preferred.
    • Understanding of applicable engineering codes and standards.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus but not required.

    Preferred Skills:

    • Experience working in HVAC, mechanical contracting, or industrial environments.
    • Familiarity with Trane equipment and building systems.
    • Knowledge of system commissioning and startup processes.
    • Experience supporting design-build projects.
