We're looking for a Pipe Stress Engineer in Phoenix who is excited about working on projects that enable the heart of our clients’ business. You’ll be accountable for schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks, as you gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget, and schedule. Qualifications:
Role Overview
Entry-level to junior Pipe Stress Engineering role.
Intended for candidates with approximately 2–5 years of relevant experience.
Fully remote opportunity available for the right candidate.
Supports multiple engineering projects within Jacobs' Electronics business.
Candidate will work under a Pipe Stress Lead and be assigned to specific projects.
Top Requirements (Must-Haves)
Pipe stress engineering experience.
Familiarity with AutoPIPE (preferred) or Caesar II.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to work remotely and independently.
Adaptability, critical thinking, problem solving, and willingness to learn.
Software Requirements
AutoPIPE preferred.
Caesar II accepted.
Other tools such as ROHR or proprietary stress-analysis software may be considered.
Candidates should be comfortable learning new software.
Experience Target
Ideal range: 2–5 years.
Junior engineers are often easier to train into Jacobs workflows.
Team Structure
Reports through a Pipe Stress Lead.
Assigned to project teams and paired with an experienced mentor.
Collaborates with global teams including resources in Texas, the West Coast, and Poland.
Training & Onboarding
Approximately two weeks of onboarding.
Training on workflows, procedures, and Jacobs-specific execution methods.
Work Environment
Fully remote – no longer needed to come in 2 days per week as this is a need
Highly collaborative and global team environment.
Education
Engineering degree preferred.
Equivalent industry experience may be accepted for candidates who can demonstrate strong technical capability.
Industries That Fit Well
Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical, Nuclear, Industrial Facilities, and Heavy Process Industries.
Residential construction backgrounds generally do not translate well.
Interview Process
Round 1: 30-minute Teams screening with Larry.
Round 2: 60-minute technical panel interview.
Candidates should have a monitor available to review engineering scenarios.
Here's what you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- At least 2 years of engineering experience
- Knowledge of pipe stress analysis and support design
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- Experience working in construction environments, including field verifications
- Experience with pipe stress analysis software such as AutoPIPE and Caesar II
- Experience with design tools such as Navisworks and AutoCAD
