Talascend is currently seeking a Piping Material Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Houston, Texas.OverviewIn this role, you will lead the design and development of methods for the manufacture, molding, and utilization of construction materials for large projects. You will analyze materials, develop conceptual designs, lead material selection, plan and conduct work, and review operating data. Your technical expertise will ensure that issues with complex materials, welding, and corrosion are addressed.ResponsibilitiesEvaluate, select, and apply standard material engineering methods, techniques, standards, specifications, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modificationsParticipate in the design, development, and modification of processes and methods for the manufacture, molding, and utilization of metallic, plastic, composite, and other materials in construction and production of hardware, electronic components, and structuresAnalyze materials and material components to establish mechanical and physical propertiesReview operating data, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate resultsPrepare material selection diagrams and/or materials corrosion engineering reports for clients as requiredAssist in the preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposalsCoordinate material engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, clients, vendors, contractors, construction, and other functional groupsProvide technical assistance to other material specialists, interact with project disciplines, customers, and regulatory agency personnel in resolving complex issuesAssist project and construction management in identifying and complying with project material requirements and address materials issues during project executionReview and check work of other specialists as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-10 years of relevant experience or 9-14 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degreeUnderstanding of Engineering Department Procedures and relevant design guidesBroad knowledge of engineering application to plant constructability, construction methods, and materialsDetailed knowledge of piping material specification software (e.g., Smart Plant Reference Data SRD)Extensive experience and knowledge of ASME, API, AWWA, ASTM, and MSS codes and product specificationsExperience developing, managing, and maintaining BIM piping FabParts with defined LOD specifications (LOD 100–500) for plant design and piping disciplinePreferred prior experience working on large industrial manufacturing facilities (semiconductor fabs or data centers)Strong knowledge of discipline precedents, principles, and practices of related disciplinesProficiency in oral and written communicationMust be authorized to live and work in the US without sponsorshipWe thank all applicants for their interest.
