Job Description
Technical Solutions Inc. is currently seeking a Piping/Mechanical Engineer for our client, a well-known consulting engineering firm in the Pittsburgh area.
Description:
- Coordinates the technical and administrative activities of the piping group.
- Based on project requirements, prepares work plans, develops reports, and leads projects for work performed on industrial projects.
- Works with Owner and others in the preparation of piping design packages.
- Interfaces with client engineers through written and verbal communication.
Responsibilities:
- Supervises engineers and designers, including assigning work, setting work priorities, and evaluating and training them
- Assures quality, quantity, and completeness of the engineering required
- Initiates engineering calculations in conformance with the project requirements
- Prepares work plans to meet the piping design project requirements
- Prepares work packages for pipe fabrication and installation
- Supervises projects without direst supervision
- Reviews drawings supplied by vendors, clients and other disciplines
- Conducts field investigations to obtain information to support the project needs
- Maintains proper engineering files and records
- Seal technical documents prepared under their supervision.
- Continually upgrades technical knowledge and capabilities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four (4) year accredited college or university
- Minimum of (15) years of Piping/Mechanical Engineering experience in an industrial environment
- Process PE license or have ability to obtain one
- Knowledge in operation of power generation and industrial facilities
- Understanding of Industry Codes and Standards, especially ASME B31.1 & B31.3
- Pipe stress analysis understanding and experience
- Planning and scheduling experience for piping design projects
- Ability to read and understand piping drawings and 3D plant models
- Able to conduct field investigations and define project scopes
