PLANNER (Day Shift)
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Maintenance Planner provides work planning, scheduling, and preparation to ensure efficient execution of required maintenance functions. The Maintenance Planner responsibility is a major role of the Centralized Proactive Maintenance Planning environment. Maintenance Planner's role is to maintain focus on proactive objectives using consistent processes and Maintenance Best Practices. The primary role of the maintenance planner is to improve maintenance productivity, effectiveness, and cost by coordinating availability of internal and external maintenance resources at Mt. Holly. The maintenance planner is charged with supporting the execution of maintenance by creating, planning, estimating, and coordinating maintenance work orders. This position also ensures the timely and coordinated availability of: parts, materials, special tools and equipment, labor hours and skills required for orderly and efficient work execution. This position functions under the direction of the Maintenance Planning Supervisor subject to established policies, procedures, and practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Planning: Ref SOP 0648
Coordinate all required aspects of job; crafts, materials, tools, prints, etc.
Review maintenance work request for significant and required information for effective work order development and follow-up.
Determine in conjunction with Maintenance Supervisor materials/services required for maintenance job. (Maintenance Supervisor SOP-0399)
Compile estimates for maintenance repairs, modifications, and construction jobs to be performed.
Contact supplier for material prices and lead times.
Initiate new supplier set up when necessary.
Follow up on past due parts.
Research and provide the necessary MSDS to Industrial Hygienist and Environmental department before ordering materials containing chemicals.
Estimate the man-hours on planned work orders for backlog and scheduling purposes.
Planners may assign crew members to specific work execution assignments.

Ensure that Environmental, Health and Safety is a number one priority.
Champion Best Practice Maintenance Planning & Scheduling Processes.
Create and publish weekly schedule for maintenance crew(s).
Lead weekly maintenance/production planning meeting to determine work priorities to coordinate with production schedules.
Coordinate maintenance crew and production schedule with outside contractor work.
Coordinate maintenance work with other maintenance crews, Rebuild, Fab, CMT, etc.
Notify insurance carrier when scheduled job requires impairment of any area of the primary fire protection system.
Review the Open Work Order Report and Asset Activities as needed to establish priorities, determine overloads, and recheck due dates.
Schedule contractors or suppliers who are performing maintenance projects in assigned area of responsibility. This includes any bid conferences for project or budget quotes and scheduling contractor safety meetings.
Bill of Materials Management
SPA for ensuring that Asset Bill of Materials within the CMMS are kept current.
SPA for initial Capital Spares and the Capital Spare replacements.
Maintain Asset Item Spares in conjunction with the Maintenance Supervisor for the proper Asset BOM MIN/MAX replenishment.
SPA to prepare maintenance equipment/parts for vendor repair:
Acquire Return Authorization Number (RA#).
Acquire classification information for submittal to Customs Compliance for export of equipment/parts.
Standardize Data Management
Maintain integrity of CMMS asset/work order history files for standard report requirements and cost control analysis for assigned area.
SPA to ensure all maintainable assets are included in the Planned Proactive Maintenance Program.
SPA to maintain integrity of PM program, i.e. checklist, frequency, estimated hours, etc.
Super User of the eAM-Maintenance software to assist with identifying problems and opportunities to better utilize the software.
Perform system functionality testing and verification of system patches and enhancements.
Maintain records to meet Regulatory Compliance such as ISO, MACT, SMACT and, Century Aluminum Standards.
SPA for Annual Overhaul Schedule Creation for assigned areas of responsibility.
