Planner I

From site plans to zoning reviews, your work will help shape the community for years to come.

• Review development applications, site plans, and permits to ensure compliance with planning and landscaping requirements.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to verify projects are progressing according to approved plans and regulations.
• Meet with applicants, property owners, and the public to answer questions and guide them through planning processes and requirements.
• Prepare staff reports, meeting packets, legal notices, and presentation materials for Planning & Zoning Commission, Board of Adjustment, and Board of Aldermen meetings.
• Support special projects, code updates, and planning initiatives through research, mapping, data collection, and technical documentation.

• A High School diploma or a General Education Diploma (GED) equivalent.
• Graduation from an institution of higher learning that is regionally accredited through the U.S. Department of Education with a bachelor's degree
  in Community and Regional Planning, Architecture/Landscape, Urban Planning or closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in this area or related field may be substituted as determined by the Department Director.
• Experience in planning or urban design.
• Be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver's license, and be able to pass a background check and drug screenings.
