    Description

    Summary:The Planner I works as part of the Planning and Development Services team to perform complex professional-level work in current and comprehensive planning. We are seeking a creative, highly skilled, and collaborative individual to support the goals and initiatives of the city.Responsibilities:Important responsibilities of the Planner I include, but are not limited to:

    Develop and maintain a working knowledge of land development codes and plans that pertain to land use, rezoning, special use, variances, and subdivisions.Participate in the review of development proposals and applications for compliance with appropriate regulations and policies; write staff reports; present recommendations to Planning Commission, City Commission, and Board of County Commissioners.The Planner I will provide Planner of the Day assistance and respond to general procedural inquiries from the public regarding the development process.Conduct research regarding property characteristics and history utilizing a wide variety of data sources.

    Qualifications:

    One (1) year professional planning experience in urban planning or a related field is preferred.Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in planning, urban design, or a closely related field.A comprehensive understanding of good planning theory and design, and the abilities to apply this to both current and long-range goals of the community.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Skilled with Microsoft computer software and able to provide graphs, maps, and publisher-type planning documents.Experience in ArcGIS Pro is desirable.
