PURPOSE AND NATURE OF WORK

This is professional planning work of an advanced level related to the administration and implementation of the Lafayette Development Code, and establishing and maintaining development compliance with the comprehensive plan. Responsibilities include research and data analysis on housing, land use, and infrastructure; and the presentation of reports to Boards, Commissions, organizations, and groups. Incumbents also work with engineers, architects, developers, other LCG departments, and the general public on review of commercial and residential construction applications, building permits, site plans and/ or annexations.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning or closely related field, plus two years of work experience in planning or related, including experience with GIS or similar data mapping software, or an equivalent combination of education and experience desired.

SPECIAL NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have professional planning experience in at least one of the following areas: Transportation Planning, Development Review, Addressing, Land Use Regulation, Zoning Enforcement, Annexation, or Environmental Planning.

TYPE OF EXAMINATION

Examination will be a ratings of education and experience through a structured interview.
