The City of Laconia is seeking a motivated and customer-focused professional to join our Planning Department as a Planner Technician. This position plays an important role in helping residents, businesses, developers, and City boards shape the future growth and development of our community. This position provides administrative and technical support for planning, zoning administration, conservation, development review, board support, and community development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist residents, businesses, and developers with planning and zoning applications.
• Assist in reviewing permits, site plans, subdivisions, and other development applications for completeness and compliance.
• Review applications and prepare agendas, minutes, notices, and meeting materials.
• Provide staff support for boards, commissions, and committees.
• Respond to public inquiries regarding zoning, land use, and development activities.
• Maintain departmental records and application files.
• Conduct site visits and inspections as assigned.
• Assist with GIS mapping, research, outreach, and special projects.
• Attend and provide support for evening board and commission meetings, typically two or more evenings per month.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications include two years of post-secondary education in planning, community development, environmental planning, geography, or a related field and one year of experience in municipal planning, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Starting Salary range: $28.50-$30.23 (Full time/35 hours per week)

Ideal Candidate: Strong communication, customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Experience with GIS, records management, and municipal planning processes is a plus.
